Pentecost Changed EverythingSample

The Outpouring
Ten days after Jesus’ ascension, the disciples were together, praying and waiting for the promise of the Holy Spirit. And then it happened:
Acts 2:2-4
"And suddenly there came a sound from heaven, as of a rushing mighty wind, and it filled the whole house where they were sitting. Then there appeared to them divided tongues, as of fire, and one sat upon each of them. And they were all filled with the Holy Spirit and began to speak with other tongues, as the Spirit gave them utterance."
This moment is what we celebrate at Pentecost: the Holy Spirit was poured out on ordinary people, just as the prophets had foretold centuries earlier!
The crowd outside was amazed—how could it be that each person heard the disciples speaking in their own native language? Weren’t these men only supposed to know Hebrew? But some mocked the disciples, saying they were drunk. Then Peter stood up and spoke boldly:
Acts 2:15-18
"For these are not drunk, as you suppose, since it is only the third hour of the day. But this is what was spoken by the prophet Joel: 'And it shall come to pass in the last days, says God, that I will pour out of My Spirit on all flesh; Your sons and your daughters shall prophesy, Your young men shall see visions, Your old men shall dream dreams. And on My menservants and on My maidservants I will pour out My Spirit in those days; and they shall prophesy.'"
Peter’s words deeply touched the people. Three thousand people repented on the spot! They were immediately baptized and also filled with the Holy Spirit.
Since then, many signs and wonders were performed through the power of the Holy Spirit (Acts 2:43). The disciples healed the sick, preached the Gospel with boldness, cast out demons, and saw crowds come to faith. The number of people empowered by the Holy Spirit grew rapidly. What an impact!
Acts 4:31
"And when they had prayed, the place where they were assembled together was shaken; and they were all filled with the Holy Spirit, and they spoke the word of God with boldness."
This power was not only for them then, but also for you today! It doesn’t matter who you are—man or woman, young or old, a new believer or walking with the Lord for years—the Holy Spirit wants to work powerfully through you.
Tomorrow, we will discover how you can walk daily in the power of the Holy Spirit!
Reflection:
How can you, like the disciples, boldly share and show Jesus' love and power in your daily life?
